DC’s SUN Bucks site says August 23, 2026 is the last day to apply for 2026 benefits. Households participating in SNAP or TANF receive DC SUN Bucks on their existing EBT card, while other eligible students may receive benefits on an existing or new SUN Bucks EBT card.

DC DHS says SNAP ABAWD work-requirement implementation begins June 1, 2026. Starting then, applicants and people recertifying for SNAP will be screened to determine whether they must meet work requirements or qualify for an exemption; DC is also launching new screening and verification forms.
