National - SNAP retailer stocking rule takes effect July 7, 2026

USDA’s final rule updating SNAP retailer staple-food stocking standards becomes effective July 7, 2026. Retailers must ultimately stock seven distinct staple-food varieties in each of four categories and at least one perishable variety in three categories, with implementation required by November 4, 2026. This may affect which stores remain authorized to accept SNAP/EBT and the food variety they must offer.

Tennessee - SNAP purchase restrictions begin July 31, 2026

USDA lists Tennessee with a SNAP Food Restriction Waiver target implementation date of July 31, 2026. The waiver restricts SNAP purchases of processed foods and beverages such as soda, energy drinks, and candy.

Arkansas - SNAP purchase restrictions begin July 1, 2026

USDA lists Arkansas with a SNAP Food Restriction Waiver target implementation date of July 1, 2026. The waiver restricts SNAP purchases of soda, fruit and vegetable drinks with less than 50% natural juice, unhealthy drinks, and candy.

New Mexico - SUN Bucks benefits delayed about 30 days, begin June 15, 2026

New Mexico announced that Summer EBT/SUN Bucks grocery benefits were held up by a federal funding delay and will begin reaching nearly 293,000 children on June 15, 2026. Eligible families are set to receive $120 per child; the state said the delay was about 30 days.
