Washington DSHS says its 2026 SUN Bucks/Summer EBT benefit period began June 15, 2026, and that another round of issuances is estimated for mid-September. Washington - SUN Bucks issuances delayed after federal funding delay, with more deposits expected in August and September
Washington DSHS says it started processing SUN Bucks benefits after a federal funding delay. As of August 2026, the state had issued benefits to roughly 400,000 children and estimated another round of issuances in mid-August and another in mid-September. DSHS also warns some 2026 benefits may be deposited into an existing EBT account while the card appears deactivated, and card delivery times may be delayed because of vendor processing times.

Washington - Certain immigrants shifted from federal SNAP to state-funded food benefits in May 2026
Washington DSHS says H.R. 1 changes affect SNAP eligibility for certain noncitizens. In May 2026, DSHS will automatically shift certain affected people from federal SNAP benefits to state-funded food benefits instead.
