West Virginia received USDA approval to extend the reporting period for SNAP recipients who lost food because of severe storms that began July 21, 2026. The extension applied to current SNAP recipients in all 55 counties, with eligible households given through August 10, 2026, to report food losses and request replacement SNAP benefits.
West Virginia extended the deadline to August 20, 2026, for current SNAP recipients in Barbour, Doddridge, Harrison, Lewis, Pleasants, Ritchie, and Upshur counties to report food losses caused by severe storms that began July 21, 2026. Eligible households may request replacement SNAP benefits for food lost due to the storm, disaster, household misfortune, or a power outage lasting more than four hours.
