Connecticut announced that beginning August 4, 2026, it began distributing one-time $300 grocery benefits to low-income residents who lost SNAP due to new federal changes. The benefits are prepaid virtual grocery cards, not existing EBT deposits.
Connecticut’s Summer EBT application remains open until August 31, 2026. Summer EBT benefits can be used at stores that accept SNAP, including some online retailers.
Connecticut announced that SNAP recipients who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits because of long-duration power outages from the July 4, 2026 storm may be eligible for replacement benefits. Replacement benefits may cover the amount of food loss, up to the household’s monthly SNAP benefit amount.
Connecticut DSS says it is working to distribute a one-time $300 grocery card to people who lost SNAP benefits due to federal eligibility-rule changes, with the benefit expected to be available around August 2026. DSS also points residents to SNAP work-rule prescreeners to understand whether the changes apply to them.
