Louisiana follows federal SNAP grocery rules with USDA-approved state restrictions for some items.
Louisiana has an approved SNAP Food Restriction Waiver that restricts purchase of soft drinks, energy drinks, and candy. Retailer checkout systems and state guidance control the final result.
USDA does not list Louisiana as operating the Restaurant Meals Program. Regular SNAP purchases generally cannot be used for restaurant meals unless a temporary disaster hot-food rule is active.
Cold deli food is usually allowed when it is meant to be eaten at home. Hot deli food is usually not allowed.
Check the label. Items with Nutrition Facts may be allowed. Items with Supplement Facts usually are not.

Louisiana SNAP deposit schedule: Most benefits are issued from the 5th to the 23rd. Elderly and disabled households may receive benefits from the 1st to the 4th. The deposit day is based on the last digit of the SSN.
Louisiana’s official SNAP page states that SNAP benefits are posted to recipients’ accounts during the first fourteen days of the month and that recipient benefits are accessible by 5:00 a.m. the morning after they are posted. The page also says benefits are posted on the same date every month and that weekends and holidays do not affect the date of benefit availability.
